necessity is the mother of invention & a TUTORIAL

A few days ago, as I was sewing a cowboy costume for my Etsy shop, I began brainstorming ideas for new hang tags for my shop items

I wanted them to be fun as well as informative (providing care instructions and contact information).  They needed to have some spunk, be cheap cost effective, AND (a big and here) be ready to ship TOMORROW (I like to cut things close).  Hmmm...
And then it came to me...
what if I just had them printed as a regular photo?  I knew Target had a fast turnaround time, but upon further investigation I discovered my local Target Photo shop was temporarily out of service - DARN!
Then I remembered the new Walgreens just down the road.  When I found their website I was pleasantly surprised to discover that when you create a photo account they give you 25 prints for FREE!  It doesn't get any better than that!
So I set to work designing the tags...
'

and this is how they turned out.  I was so pleased with the result that I made a TUTORIAL.  Really, the possibilities are endless.

shop update: Snack Happy!

Shop Update: Snack Happy!
I have just updated my shop with a new Snack Happy set - rainbow stripes! The set includes a snack bag and a sandwich wrap (which doubles as a placemat).
Using these snack sets has drastically reduced the number of plastic baggies our family would normally waste - which also makes me very Happy!
Each set is made from recycled fabric, food safe plastic, and hook & loop closures.  The sandwich wrap is hand-stamped with my original "bread" graphic, and the bags have "snack" stamped on the outside (which can be customized to fit your needs).
Great for: picnics, school lunch, car rides, hiking, gifts...
Totally washable too! Just turn them inside out, wash in cold water, and line dry.

I am clearing out the last of the Fire Starters just in time for the start of the camping season.   And if you are avid campers like us, you will love them! They are easy to light, making them especially handy in inclement weather (like we often see here in Washington).  Made from Recycled materials.

Visit my Etsy shop: and if you write "CAMP" in the note to seller during checkout, I will send you an extra one for FREE!

Getting ready for Halloween on Etsy!

Wow, it really has been a long time since my last post. I have been working on Halloween costumes for my Etsy shop. This year I have decided to add cowgirl costumes, and they are really quite fun to make!

I just finished another Wardrobe Refashion project today, I hope to have it posted by this evening!

Birthday Gift

Total Cost: $15
($14 robot shirt from Etsy + $1 thrifted shirt)

My oldest is turning 4 next week, and he asked for a robot for his birthday. I couldn't resist making this outfit after seeing this shirt on Etsy. Sorry for the poor pictures, I had to take them at midnight so my little guy wouldn't see his gift. The shirt is light blue and the shorts are brown with blue plaid stripes. I made a side pocket from one of the cuffs. These shorts are so easy, I finishd them in less than 30 min.

snack time!

I have been using several of these bags for all the little goodies that we tote along with us where ever we go. My boys really enjoy it when I give each of them their own bag of goodies (not to mention the few moments of quiet time for Mom!)
